Item variation not appearing on on final cart screen

I am finding that when a customer places an order online, the item variation appears in the popup cart, but not on the final cart screen.  This makes it difficult for the customer to verify that they are purchasing the exact item they want.

 

I sell honey.  My variations are size, and variety.  This means I end up with something like 130 combinations of options to choose from.

 

If a customer chooses "Honey, 1 pound, Clover", all that information shows up in the popup cart.  However, when they are ready to checkout, the checkout cart shows just "Honey" and the total price.  No size or variety is shown.  This is particularly confusing if the customer is trying to purchase multiple varietals or multiple sizes (or both).

Is there a way to get the variation to appear on the final checkout screen for an online purchase?

After discussing this with our Advanced Support team they were able to confirm that the behavior is expected here as you have configured your variations using Option Sets which are not considered modifiers and as a consequence are not displayed on the checkout page. However, they will appear on the order receipt and will also be displayed if the customer clicks or taps on the product during checkout.
