I’m looking for advice on how to add a product as a gift in Square POS without impacting revenue metrics. Currently, when we process a gift, it’s recorded under "Discounts & Comps," but I’d like to avoid this.
For example, we have a product that costs £10, but we also include it as a gift for larger purchases. Every time we zero out the product, it shows up as a £10 discount, but it wasn’t a discount—it was a gift.
Ideally, I’d like to:
Is there a way to achieve this setup? Any guidance or alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Thanks for posting and welcome to the seller Community, @AnaBottaro 👋.
If you would like to avoid the item to be displayed as a Discount on your reports, you can simply create an item with a variable price.
From your Dashboard, access your Item Library and create an item. Add the name and description and leave the price box blank to add a variable price at checkout. This way you'll be able to add the item as a £10 product or a £0 gift to the sale.
This is what it will look like from the POS:
I hope this helps, but leet me know if you have any questions!
Hi Lou, thank you, I saw this possibility but the operations are a bit more complex.
1. we have more than 300 SKUs and no way do to that in bulk; and 2. we integrate the SQUARE POS to an inventory management system and the sync wouldn't work including 2 prices for the same product =/
