I have the complete bundle but am frustrated by the limitation of only being able to accept contactless debit transactions. Is there any plan to offer this service to Canadian customers?

We are working on bringing debit chip and PIN transactions to our Canadian sellers currently. I don't have a timeline I can share in regards to when it will be available, but we will make an announcement on the Seller Community when it launches. 🙂

Is there any update on this (debit with chip and PIN) for Canada? This has been more than 6 months and it is still not available. More customers are disabling their tap because of security concerns. This is a critical issue that will cost us (and you) sales and risk defection to another platform.

No updates yet @David-BG but we are working on it. We do want you to be able to accept more card payments with Square so it is a priority. We'll share any news as soon as it's available!

It is REALLY important that there be some visibility to what is planned and for when. This is relevant since even when dates slip, decisions ARE being made based on plans.
As of this moment, regardless of what you are saying, since you have not obtained and communicated any form of target date for this enhancement, it plainly states that there is no plan to have it implemented.
"we are working on it" is not an acceptable answer. Instead, it should be something like "We are including this feature in our next release, which is scheduled for Q3 of 2019. If it becomes apparent that it can not be included in that release, we will advise of a future release date.
That means to decisions ARE being made by your business customers and potential customers based on the fact that this feature is MISSING and with no stated plans to provide the feature in the near future, they will select a different solution.
What YOU need to do is to get in touch with the responsible team to get what their current target implementation date IS and what is the likelihood of that date slipping and what they would like to communicate as a likely availability target.
You should do that NOW.
Otherwise, as stated earlier, your company WILL NOT get many new business customers who just not willing to wait an indeterminant (possibly never) availability date. Also, existing business customers who have already waited much too long, will defect and switch to other products. That will certainly impact your company's credibility and financials.
I (and I am sure others) ARE evaluating other alternatives that more closely meet their needs to transition to replace Square as a solution.

Thanks Dave. You have articulated our frustration so accurately. We are currently looking at other options because Square can’t accept non-tap debit in Canada AND because Square has not been transparent and honest about their effort to change this. When we have asked we get meaningless, polite responses telling us they appreciate our feedback and are constantly striving to improve. When pushed, they say it is a priority. However, I found a post on this forum from 2016 where Square said it was a priority they are working on. It’s now mid-2019. That means Square is either incompetent (can’t get it done) or untruthful (say it is a priority when clearly it is not).
