If the power goes out, has the square register got a battery back up?

I understand the data will be backed up, but can we still operate the register? Could we still take eftpos payments? We have a tyro eftpos machine that will operate on battery for a time. But costs us a monthly fee.

Hi @meanderstore this is a great question!

The Square Register needs to be connected to a power source at all times in order to operate. There is no internal battery in the event you lose power. You can review our guide for an overview of how to set up the Square Register.

As a backup for these events, it's worthwhile installing the Square Point of Sale app on a mobile device in order to continue to take card payments. You can connect a Square Reader to the app to continue processing credit cards, or alternatively, you can process card payments by manually entering the details on the app

Let me know if you have any other questions here.
