I can't remove sales tax from shipping

I can't seem to remove sales tax from shipping. Under Settings > Sales Tax > Shipping & non-physical tax overrides, I cannot check the box: exempt from shipping".

I have tried for hours to fix this and can't find a resolution.

Ok.  I just wanted to be sure.  I've learned here not to make assumptions when I don't have all of the information.

So, most likely the box is disabled because your choice in the "Domestic shipping and non-physical sales taxes" section above that is set to "Do not collect taxes." Just click on the "automatically apply" option for a minute, then that checkbox should be enabled for you to check it, after which you can change back to "Do not collect taxes" if that is really what you want to do.

Hey there @SpiritDesigns.. First, it would be helpful to know where you are.  I'm in Kentucky and, in my state, shipping MUST have sales tax added if the item(s) being shipped are taxable, even if they are billed separately.  It might be the same in your state, which is why you can't override it if you are using the automatic sales tax settings for your state.

Sorry I’m in New Jersey, and I double checked, if the item is non-taxable then I do not charge tax on shipping. And that is the case.

😎 You're welcome.  Between the two of us, I'm just a person who loves to click and click and click and try to "break things," or at least see what happens.  But let's keep that secret between us.  LOL
