Howdy there, @Breeze-bar 👋,

I noticed it's your first time posting to the Seller Community - welcome!

From what you've shared, I'm not fully understanding the issue your customers are experiencing when attempting to redeem their eGift Cards. Can you include some additional information in your reply (E.g. are all customers unable to redeem eGift cards, are they attempting to redeem eGift cards online or in person, do they receive an error message when trying to use their eGift card)?

Once I have a clearer understanding of the issues you're seeing, I'll be able to jump in to offer specific support.

In the meantime, you can review the steps to set up and redeem eGift cards here.

Thanks Laurie

Maybe I am not issuing the gift cards correctly.

If I issue a gift card of just say $30.00 I include the customer name on the sale. I then press charge and the customer pays cash, then I send them the email receipt with the barcode attached.

Then when the customer redeems the gift card for a sale item in my store for say $20.00 I assumed there would still be a balance of $10.00 on the gift card. This is where nothing is happening and I tried balance of card but it just shows the original $30.00

I must be doing something terrible wrong.

We tried using an amount of a gift card for $30.00 to be used for coffees at $3.00 each giving us 10 redeemable sales--but I cannot seem to get past first base

Thanks if you can offer any ideas.

Laurie

Is it because the customer is paying  cash for the card not using tap & go

Thanks

Thanks for including some additional information about the issue you're seeing, @Breeze-bar.

To confirm, it is the eGifts Cards you are currently selling and not the physical plastic Gift Cards, correct? Can I check that you've configured your eGift Cards from your online Square Dashboard?

In the meantime, I've included the correct processes for selling and redeeming eGift Cards through your Square Point of Sale app.

To load and send an eGift Card in the Square Point of Sale app, you will need to follow the below steps:

1. Create a new sale or open an existing ticket.

2. Tap Library > Gift Cards > Sell eGift Card.

3. Select your eGift Card design.

4. Select a preset load amount or enter a custom amount.

5. Enter the eGift Card recipient’s email address > tap Done.

6. Tap Return to Sale to complete the transaction.

Once the transaction is complete, the recipient will immediately be sent their eGift Card via email.

When it comes to redeeming the eGift Card from your app, you can do this one of two ways, by manually entering the 16-digit code, or by scanning the barcode from the customer's email. See below:

Charge eGift Card with Redemption Code

1. Add items to your cart or enter a custom amount.

2. Tap Charge > Manual Gift Card Entry.

3. Enter the 16-digit redemption code > tap Charge to select a payment card for the transaction.

4. Complete the payment flow.

If there are insufficient funds on the gift card, you can use Split Tender to complete the sale (for example, if your customer is paying a portion of the sale in cash).

Charge eGift Card with QR code or Barcode
1. Add items to your cart or enter a custom amount.

2. Tap Charge > Gift Cards.

3. From your customer’s original eGift Card email, use your device’s front-facing camera to scan the QR code or barcode. You can also use a compatible and connected barcode scanner.

4. Tap Charge to complete the payment flow.

I hope this helps to clear up the process for selling and redeeming eGift Cards. You can find more information about using eGift Cards here. I'll keep a lookout for your reply for any further questions!
