The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Add on services in appointments"
We use appointments for our dog grooming salon and I want the customer to have the option of adding on a selection of spa upgrades when they book the dog in, Ive tried everything but cant get them to show on the appointments page.
Ive tried adding them as items, modifiers and custom attributes' but they just dont show during the booking process.
These are optional add ons and do not have to be paid for at the time of booking.
Is there something im missing?
Our Square Appointments page is integrated with Wix website, we do not use the Square website.
Thank you
Hi @inglebygrooming - I see this is your first post in the Square Community so I'd like to officially welcome you! 🎉 My name is Violet and I'm one of the Community Moderators.
While there isn't an "add-on" feature in Square Appointments, some Sellers have different ways to work around this. One suggestion is to create your add-ons are service items and assign them to a category titled "add-ons" so your customers can see these grouped together. You could also create a new service item titled "add-ons" and create a variation for each different type of add-on.
I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi Violet , I tried that but the customer would have to book the dog grooming appointment first and complete the booking , then go back in to add on the spa upgrade as a new appointment, then the problem we had is that once the main appointment is booked it wouldnt let a second service overlap with the first service that had been booked.
So for example -
Customer books a full groom which is a 2 hours slot from 9am-11am
They try to go back in to add the spa upgrade and now the 9am-11am slot is blocked by the full groom appointment so they cant actually book the spa upgrade.
Also it wont let you add a service without a duration time.
Hey! Have you resolved this issue yet? I am having same exact problem but Square doesn't have an answer or solution for me...Thanks!
No, its very frustrating. We offer about 10 different optional add on treatments so I want customers to be able to select them at the time of booking their actual appointment but there seems to be no way to do this.
I too am a spa owner and i’ve been struggling with this for years. It makes a difference with the add-ons because each add-on say I want to do an extra 15 minute massage you need to be able to add time to that to extend the appointment. It’s very frustrating the only workaround I’ve been able to do is just to create it as an add-on, like the moderator saidas an add on separate new service. as a add on separate new service. I feel like it clutters my menu, but around. They really need to start thinking about adding this for us because I know other platforms offer this and honestly it’s been a reason for me wanting to switch. But at the same time I love Square but this feature not being available is hurting my business. If they were able to see a separate add-on at the time of booking that selected appointment, it would increase profit.
I didn't mine as modifications. So it looks like a drop down menu.
A Hydrafacial
A hydrafacial plus lymph drainage
A Hydrafacial plus lip perk
A hydrafacial with lympy and perk
It is still clunky but the only way I've found to really get it all to work out.
I've done what square suggests i dislike it.. why? because our site looks more busy and cluttery and customers want quick, efficient ways to just book and go about their day. I dont think square is thinking like a customer thinks.. if it's too hard to go back and forth we will loose a sale and that will turn into us no longer paying square our fees. I've used square for 4 years and jumped from mango mint, acuity, fresha and i love them but square brought me back. Can yall just please add this feature?? also can you add smart pricing like fresha does.. where during certain days and times we can mark on our calendar as a discounted price for those booking that time slot. I made ANOTHER category to make this feauture but fresha does it effortlessly. NO codes needed. If i had the money may i should make my own software because clearly i've made my research what customers want and what has worked for other business owners. okay thanks please don't take another 10 years to catch up.
I am a hair salon and really need a guided booking system,i.e you have booked a colour, now you need to book a cut, would you like to add on a treatment? I have so many options on my booking page, clients forget to book half of the things they need. I want to push certain services or items and I can't get a workaround. Been using Square for years, and I have loved it, but I need more.
Hi everyone, I am a stylist so my website is also for booking appointments. I do have an add-on section for people to select anything extra that they want along with their Base Service I did mine the same way the moderator recommended. I created a category called add-ons and within that category there are different services that you can choose from. Yes there must be a time frame for each service because you have to block out the time for each one of those services. For example, if your base service is a 2-hour service and your add-on is 30 minutes but the time for the base service takes up all the time, you won't be able to add on the add-on. There has to be enough time in the open slot.
