Help with IPHONE 6S settings for Chip Reader

I have used the Chip Reader with my Iphone 4S and 6S PlUS for over a year.  Recently replaced the 4S with a 6S.  For an unknown reason, the Chip Reader does not work on the 6S and strangely no longer works on my 6S PLUS but does work on my IPAD.  Note that the 2 IPhones are not paired so that is not the reason the 6S PLUS stopped working.  I tried going through Square Support and they were no help.

I tried all the trouble shooting suggestions.  Downloaded the latest IOS update, the APPs are uptodate.  Microphone volumn is on high.  The phones recognize the reader, just won't process the payment.  The screen does nothing.  As noted above it works on my IPAD.

Just want to make sure I'm giving the right information here so I can best assist- do you have the chip reader that plugs into the headphone jack port or the wireless chip reader? 

I know the 6S and up does not have a headphone jack and our readers aren't compatible with the dongle/adapter for it so that could be what is causing the issue if so.
