Free item with minimum spend

Hi there all,

I wish to setup an offer for a free item (choice of a free cheesecake, value £3.50) with a minimum spend of £20 on the site for collection.

I can't find a way of doing this online, I can create a coupon for £3.50 off when spending £20 however I only want this applied to the cheesecake rather than the whole order.

Can anyone help?

Hi @smashnslide, thanks for your post. We do not have a direct way to offer a free item for an order over a certain amount. You can only set discount coupons so it will either be applied to a specific item or category or if the order is over a certain amount.

As a workaround, you can set up a banner to inform your customers there is a Free cheesecake to claim for every order over £20. The customers can leave a comment to their order to confirm whether they want the free cheesecake.

You can allow your customers to add a comment to their order from your Online Store Dashboard > Shared Settings > Checkout. Under Customer inputs section, tick the option Allow customer to leave a note to seller.

I see how beneficial it can be for your business to have a discount feature like this. I'll make sure to pass this over to our Product team to consider. Please let me know if the workaround helps.

Hi Emma, I too would like to be able to do this type of offer - I found this thread as I was looking for a way to set up a three for two offer on a specific item. In future I would also like to be able to offer a free gift with orders over a certain amount.

Hey @Natasha14, welcome to Square's Seller Community! Just stepping in for Emma here.

The above is still considered a feature request at the moment. You can still other types of discount codes for your customers to use in your online shop.

We'll be sure to announce the release of this feature here, on the Seller Community, when it becomes available. In the meantime, you can use the workaround Emma suggested above.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you!
