Edit or Add Notes to Saved Transactions

Is there any reason why Square does not allow adding or editing a note to a saved transaction?

Hi @Tarryall  by “saved transaction” do you mean an open transaction that hasn’t been paid yet? Or do you mean a transaction that is completed after payment?

In the first case you can bring the transaction up and add new items and/or notes, and even void items.

In the second case, Square does not allow any changes to completed transactions. They never have and probably never will. Any feature requests to allow changes to completed transactions, even minor ones, are always declined. I can’t answer “why.”

I am referring to transactions that have been saved and closed. It seems that it would be much more user friendly in tracking transactions adding detail to allow that. I wouldn't think that it would affect the $ numbers in any way, just add a way to clarify transactions that may need a bit more detail than when input.

I don’t necessarily disagree with your logic. Feel free to submit a feature request to the POS team here. You’re not alone in wanting limited change capability for closed transactions. All I know is in my 11 years with Square they’ve stayed firm on this policy. Good luck.
