I'm new to square but not retail. Using the Square Retail POS system. I have a cash drawer attached to a TSP100 printer. Both the printer and the cash drawer work fine. When we receive cash the drawer pops open - no problem.
When I go into settings - cash drawers, it says no usb cash drawers found. But... and this is kind of funny, if you hit the "test cash drawer" button the cash drawer pops open.
The issue is I need to open and close my cash drawer. If I got to reports - current drawer, it says "no cash drawer."
Any ideas? I've done the unplug, re-plug, restart thing. I called support (no help). Should I just go buy a usb drawer? If so what happens to my TSP100 printer when it can not longer talk the the drawer?

I am not sure what system you are using but I have the Square Stand with a networked Receipt printer.
Our Printer controls the Cash Drawer like yours and we have the same problem. Your cash drawer like mine is not hooked up to a USB port but to the actual Receipt printer. To open our cash drawer we do it one of 2 ways, The keys that were provided or in the top Right of our Square for Retail (free) on an Ipad is 3 "..." or maybe 4. (Sorry I am at home and the stand is at the store) When I press those it pops up a drop down menus with a few things in. One of them being clear cart and I think the last one is Open cash Drawer or No Sale. On reports it puts a notification that the Cash Drawer was opened outside of a sale. I for get what the wording is No Sale I think though.
From my understanding different operating systems for Android, IOS, Terminal, Register, Square POS, Square for Retail and Square for Restaurants are all a little different on where these buttons maybe placed.
Hope this helps
TY for your answer. Seems this problem has been around for a while. Maybe a square technician should visit a retail store that still takes some cash.
