Can't press "charge" button after manual credit card sale

I am entering a manual credit card sale, but when I finish entering the zip code, the "charge" button is unaccessible. I cannot activate it. Yes I do have the manual credit card entry activated, and yes I know that the percentage is different than the standard for having a card present.

Hello @mjonesmaker thanks for your post, I see you are new to the Square Community, so welcome! Just a few questions to clarify...are you trying to take a payment on your phone/Square App? or using another way? You could try and use the Virtual Terminal on your Square Dashboard. If you log in to your Square account on a computer, you can select Payments > Virtual Terminal. See if you can manually enter the card info there and process the payment.

 

Also, are you by chance trying to run an American Express card? Just an FYI sometimes those cause issues because the security code is actually 4 digits instead of just 3.

Thanks. Yes, it was an AmEx charge, and the customer had given me a three digit code. I tried running the sale many times before and after posting the comment above and eventually (and accidentally) began the entering the zip code before hitting the return button, which resulted in a wrong code and a wrong zip, but the charge button lit up blue. I did a quick google search to find out that AMEX cards had a 4 digit code then called the customer and got the transaction done.
