Camera usage detected

Hi, I'm using Android Google pixel fold 9 to do tap and pay. Every time I enter amount and then press tap to pay, my phone comes up with a notification "camera usage detected, close all apps". Even when no other apps are open it does the same so I cannot continue to take payment. Anyone know how to stop this?

Hi folks - Sorry for the delay and appreciate your patience. We have a fix for this that will start rolling out from tomorrow and everyone should have access by mid-next week. Make sure you update your device to 6.82 if you haven't done so already.

HI @Robsimo 

 

Question for you, did you just pick up the pixel 9 fold or have you had it?  Are you updated to Android 16, and did it work prior to that if so? 

 

Asking only because I have the Pixel 6pro, 8 pro, and 10 pro, and after the Android 16 updated a little while ago, certain things got broken from Google.  Trying to help narrow down if its a Square issue and or Google issue.

Hi, only been using the pixel 9 fold since I have had square tap and pay. It was working and now keep getting this camera usage issue. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, still no good.

I also have Pixel 9 fold, and just started having this problem today while at the Farmers market. Must be a bug from Google.

Our Engineers are currently taking a closer look at this and wanted to confirm, are you seeing this 'camera usage detected' message when the device is both folded and unfolded? Or is this only happening when the phone is unfolded?

Just tried to use it on my 9 fold and it's happening while folded. (Worked last month)

 

Doesn't give option to tap when unfolded.

Only when folded. You can't take payment when the phone is unfolded.

I'm having the same problem too. I have a Google Pixel pro fold and have been not been able to take any payment. Now my tab hardware won't link up to my phone too. It's horrible 😞
