Account Verification Issues & Broken Reader

Pre-Covid I purchased a Gen 1 reader and ended up being unable to use it for a couple years until I got the opportunity to table at an upcoming convention. And now I have two problems:

 

1. Account verification

I guess all those years ago I may have partially set up my square account but again, I never used it or fully activated it. Since then I have moved houses and contact information. Fast forward to now I am trying to update my information but I am already locked out of the option to update things or attempt to re-verify. I have contacted text support and email with both telling me basically "I can't look up what went wrong or your information. Look for another POS provider." This is ridiculous that I am left in the dark to what went wrong. I am the same self business with the same banking information I truly don't understand why I can't even submit a ticket for review.

 

2. Broken reader

Continuing with the fact that I have never used the square machine I purchased all those years ago ..It's broken. I have never touched it out of the packaging besides maybe plugging it in once otherwise I had it sitting in a drawer. Don't know if its because It's an old model but its just wild to me that an unused device could break so easily.

Sorry to hear that you haven't been able to verify your identity for your account. Unfortunately, the information that Customer Support provided you - is correct. If you weren't able to pass the identity verification after so many tries, Square will not be able to provide payment services for your business.
