Hi,
I would like to create kitchen names for options just like you can do with a modifiers but it wont allow me to.
Any advice? am i looking in the wrong place?
Hi @Burgersdream This capability does not exist currently. Since options are used to create variations, I'm having a hard time figuring out your use case because I guess I'm not thinking outside the box. Ha. Could you enlighten me as to what, exactly, you are looking to accomplish?
Thanks!
Hi,
I would like for the option selected to stand out and be clear for the kitchen staff.
see attached photos of the build your own burger item with the burger option for the customer select.
the customer can also select which bread choice they would like and this is set up as a modifier.
the bread choice has exclamation mark in order for kitchen staff to have an easier time reading the ticket.
unfortunately, the burger option is listed in plain text without any special character to look at a glance and know what to prepare.
in theory I could set the option up as a modifier, but then there will be no price point for the item.
@Burgersdream Thank you so much for the photos. This is a place where Square's rather lazy choice of words confused me. "Options" in our online stores are really "variations" in our item setups. So every time someone asks about "options" my first thought is about options that are used to automatically build variations which are used most often in retail items. I wish the engineers would be consistent in their wording choices, but I know that is just a pipe dream. So, my apologies for my initial confusion. Now....
As you've already found (since you put a red pepper next to some variations), you CAN put a kitchen name for variations. However that kitchen name can not contain emoji of any kind -- ONLY regular symbols found on a keyboard. Emoji are not printed or displayed on KDS at this time. Plain text is all you can use for kitchen names of any kind.
