Help!
I am trying to set up stock control for my bar and struggling with the concepts, I think ive found a workable solution but can’t find any solid guides or info anywhere on the internet or this forum……don’t want to spend days setting all of this up and it doesn’t work, or there is an official way to do this that’s easier/better.
Problem: need to track my stock properly and make my weekly ordering process easier. I sell items such as vodka which can be in a cocktail, on its own in various sizes, mixed with a mixer in various sizes. Beers, wines etc etc also the same issue. Stock control out of the box in square seems to just track individual items so I can’t track the base ingredient across multiple items and it is useless. Using google sheets and scripts would work but it’s a bit clunky and prone to breaking from initial tests.
Proposed solution:
-Create a base non sellable item for each stock type I receive I.e bottle of vodka, keg of beer type x etc etc
-Create non sellable units for each stock type which will be used in items, I.e shot of vodka is 0.03968253968 of a bottle, double vodka is 0.07936507937, pint of beer is 0.0210467037 of a keg etc
-Re create all of my items as bundles (this is why I want to double check this is the right approach as it will take me a long time!)
-Add a unit from the non sellable stock type items as the bundle I.e shot of vodka bottle and serve of Pepsi max, or just pint measurement of beer, or half shot vodka bottle /half shot gin bottle etc for cocktails
Quick test shows this works and tracks stock on the base non sellable items from sales of the different sellable items. It does limit me though in terms of having options on my items as I can’t do that on bundle items, so I need to create a single vodka and coke, a double vodka and coke, a single vodka and lemonade, double vodka lemonade, single vodka red bull etc etc etc. So going to be item overload but all tracking back to the stock units and I guess staff will have to just search for what they are selling each time.
Again just triple checking this is the best way to do this in square in this scenario but any suggestions or hints would be greatly received!!
Hi @Rhysj123 , it looks like you posted twice about the same inquiry. I'll respond directly on this thread 🙂.
