Permissions Timing out While Scanning Items

We recently set up Square Permissions on several iPads throughout our business along with a 1 minute "timeout" for inactivity. While scanning items- Square will time out to prompt the cashier to sign back in if they've been scanning a particularly large order.

Is this a known issue or a workaround we're not seeing to prevent time outs mid check out? Square doesn't seem to recognize scanning items as "activity" it seems.

@SwampRabbitCafe This issue arises because the system doesn’t recognize scanning as active engagement, leading to unintended logouts. One thing you could get your employees to do during a long transaction is to tap on the screen, this will signal that there is active engagement.

That's what we instructed for now 😂

Was hoping there was an additional setting we missed but doesn't seem like it. We'll have to reach out to our rep to see if there's a request in for that since it seems like an oversight.

@SwampRabbitCafe Are you dead set on the one minute timeout? If your transactions are longer, you can increase it to five minutes. Otherwise...tapping the screen is your best bet right now. 🫣

One minute is not long enough (but close)  and 5 is just a bit too long! We've got a bit of a Goldilocks situation where it's not "just right" 😂
It's a new system we've just begun so I'm sure we'll get used to it over time
