Hello, I'm relatively new to Square and trying to first get our POS setup to work in our retail pet store before expanding to online ordering. The latest struggle I had was enabling local delivery for orders to be placed on our in-store POS (I will say calling into Square support was useless on this - they told me I can only setup local delivery with online ordering, not POS. I knew that didn't seem right, so I struggled through for another half day to figure it out on my own). I finally got that to work tonight, but I'm struggling with the next step of managing those orders.
We may take deliveries out each week to a group of customers. It could be 2 deliveries one week and 12 the next. Small numbers now, but as we expand to online ordering and offering local delivery on all the products in the store, I expect this to grow exponentially, so I want to prepare for it. I can see the list of orders that need to be delivered, and it seems as though I need to click the customer name on each individual order to bring up their customer profile and see their address. Then, I would copy this, paste into google maps or something similar. Then, go to the next order and do the same so I can plot out my full delivery route. All our deliveries would be done by in-house couriers.
Is there a better way to do this? Am I missing something?
One thing to add. I did try to export all the delivery orders as a CSV; however, in the CSV, all of the address fields are blank. I did attach a customer to all of my delivery orders, and that customer does have an address in the customer directly. It looks like that address is not carrying through to the actual order itself, which is why I have to go into each individual order (I'm using Square Dashboard to do this), click the customer name, and then view their address from the customer directory.
Hey there @tbierly. I’m going to tag seller @JTPets. His is the same business model and he is constantly looking for or creating things to make his business more efficient. I think he’ll be able to point you in the right direction.
I have built an entire SaaS around managing my pet store in Square - if you are technical you can try the code i released in my github or I can reach out in a couple weeks (maybe longer) when im ready to beta test openly as a subscription model
@TheRealChipA , thanks for making the introduction!
Hi @JTPets , I would love to talk some time if you're willing. I'll send a DM
