Hello,
I have 2 franchises with the same Menu. Ever since the last update the prices of my menu items keep changing on their own.
Twice now my staff has reported prices changing mid service. On one occasion a taco went to $10 each.
I need help.
Thank you
Ken
Hi, @Chingones_Canti ! Thanks @MargaritaMixte for also chiming in here to help! So appreciated!
This issue could also be tied to syncing problems between your Item Library and your locations, particularly after a system update. Here are a few steps you can try to help stabilize your menu pricing:
Check Location-Based Pricing
Go to Dashboard > Items > Item Library.
Click into an item and review the “Location Availability” section.
Confirm that price overrides per location haven't been accidentally enabled or changed.
Disable Automatic Updates or Syncs
If you’re syncing your items through a third-party system (like a POS integration, delivery platform, or inventory manager), those might be pushing unexpected price changes.
Temporarily disconnect or pause syncing from external systems and see if the problem stops.
Audit Item History
Square now includes limited version history on items:
In the Item Library, select a specific item.
Check for change logs or activity records (if available) to see when and how changes were made.
Lock Down Staff Permissions
Go to Dashboard > Staff > Permissions.
Ensure staff members cannot edit item prices unless necessary. Even accidental taps can save changes in real time if permissions are too broad.
Let me know if you are still seeing this happen!
It looks like someone has access to pricing persmissions. I would look to see who has the ability to edit items, that is something that only authorized users should do, but if you haven't checked your permissions, prices can be changed.
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I am the only one with permissions to edit pricing. It is odd, it began to happen after the last update.
I have to constantly monitor my menu and pricing during services which is tasking and annoying.

Is someone using a device you are logged into? I set up devices for a restaurant owner she would either 1) never log out, or 2) give her log-in code to her employees and then they would be able to give discounts and change prices. This is even after I installed login codes for each employee. No one logged in as themselves, they always logged in as the owner.
Needless to say, she blamed all the reasons why Square wasn't working for her, on the software and hardware, switched to Toast two years later, and now two years later she is using both Toast and Square, paying for both.
