How to make it a required option for picking Dine-in, to-go, patio, or call-in?

Is there a option or work around to have dining options a required selection before a order is sent back? Customers come up to the register and place a order and new employees tend to forget to ask if for here or to go and I would love to make it where the dining option pops up or something as to remind them to ask.

@TicklePickle You could make your top menu level the dining options and then have the register return to the home page after the sale.  I think if you isolate the dining options it might help.  I'll investigate and see if it can be nested, but I get what you are trying to do.

None as far as I know. I made the default "FORGOT TO PICK DINING OPTION" so that if they forget to pick one it will show that on the tickets

I hope they figure this out. We have 3 restaurants doing 50/50 takeaway/sit-in and the varying VAT rates add up to mega bucks of a difference. No amount of staff training will ensure consistent selection...

Adding my voice to calls for this to be a feature, it would be a very easy thing to implement on the POS just for a pop up asking for the dining option for each order, can't see why this hasn't happened yet!

I fully support the idea of having a mandatory field for dining options at the POS when starting an order. These discussions go back at least to 2022 with the promise that the request is “in review.” There are competing POS systems with features that are better suited to restaurants and my patience is starting to wear thin on waiting for Square to retrofit their software to accommodate restaurants and having to figure out inadequate work arounds.
