Docket printing for new categories

I have a setup with 1 square register and 3 terminals at the restaurant and I use mPOS software on terminals with shared settings. I also have 3 printers (reciept, kitchen and bar).

When I create new categories, I have set it up to add to printers automatically. The problem is that when I change the printer routing on any terminal or the register, it automatically does not copy that setting to other terminals or register. I have to manually update on each terminal and register. Is there a better way to do it?

Hi again, @ctfo22!

I'm a little behind this latest announcement, so you may have already seen that Square recently launched Printer Profiles. Printer Profiles are replacing Printer Stations, and will now allow you to sync your printer settings across multiple devices.

We've included steps for Android/Register and iOS devices. Take a look and let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi @ctfo22,

Thanks for stopping by with your question!

I just want to ensure I'm on the same page with you here - When you say you change the printer routing, are you referring to setting up a new printer station on your device?

Hi Laurie, no not a new printer station. When a new item category is created, depending on the settings (automatically add new categories to this printer) on the terminal/register, it either gets automatically added to the available printer stations or doesn't. However, I don't want all categories to go to all printer stations and and as such have to update them manually to which printer the category should print to. The issue is this manual process has to be repeated on all terminals/register individually.

Thanks for including these details, @ctfo22! I think I'm with you now!

Ideally, you want the ability to add new categories with the 'Automatically add new categories to this printer' option enabled. However, you'd like the category settings to sync across all devices simultaneously. Have I got that right?

I'm aware that there are several new features in development within this area, so I'd be happy to run this by our Product Team to determine whether it's already part of their ongoing work.
