We are a long-established Square user with a food cart and catering location. I was playing around with the "Menu" and "Modes" features to see if they would have any new benefits for us. I don't think we previously had "Restaurant for Menus" as an option, so I've created a mode using "Quick service," copying the settings from the current setup as suggested.
How can I preview the Mode? I thought I would be able to in the computer dashboard. I couldn't figure out how, so I tried the iPad, which has been historically the only way to remotely make any POS display changes. (However, now the iPad, which works perfectly fine, is apparently obsolete because it won't update to iOS 16, and I can't get into Square at all with it. Bummer, since we normally use it for payments at events.)
So... Is there a way to preview a new MODE before switching to it on the POS system? I don't want to mess up something that works fine right now, but I'd like to take advantage of any new features.
To my knowledge @abrokenangel it is NOT possible to a preview of the modes on a computer dashboard. It can only be done on a device.
With that being said, I can tell you that you will need to have the shift/cash drawer closed on the device that you are changing modes on. If you have opened the drawer for previous sales, you will not be able to change modes until you close that cash drawer (assuming you are using drawers that is).

You should be fine @abrokenangel , as long as you close the shifts. We have switched before multiple times on one of our devices from retail/restaurant mode without issue.

Most everything worked fine, and there are some new features! However, Open Tickets is no longer working as expected. We need to take a phone order, save it (it also prints), then bring it up when they arrive. Can anyone point me to how this is supposed to work now? I can only see a "Print" button, and in there I can add a ticket, but I can't figure out how to bring the tickets back up when they're ready to pay (nor can I delete them). It just prints two copies of each ticket and goes to the "New Sale" screen. I really don't want to have to revert just for this.
You should a section on the device that says "orders". It most likely is at the bottom of the screen. If not, you can add "orders" to the short list by going to "customize". There you should see "orders" and have the ability to add it to the short list.
I'm currently on a plane or I would share some screen shots @abrokenangel . Can you tell me what type of device you are using?
