I thought I'd made a mistake the first time, but this has now happened to me three times.
1) Select a previous transaction
2) Return Or Exchange
3) Select All or any item .. Next
4) On the Restock Items page, Select All Items ... Next
5) Add items to make an even exchange
6) Press Even Exchange then Cash. Transaction processes giving the usual receipt window
The newly sold exchange item is removed from the inventory, but the Exchanged item is NOT added back into the inventory.
Please fix this recently introduced bug!
So when was that introduced?
Previously they were restocked immediately - now I have to remember to go and manually restock them.
Seems a backward step to me.
I am not 100% sure of the logic, I just know I have to periodically check it, there is likely a setting somewhere that needs review
Thanks for the insight @JTPets
The trouble now his that I've done some inventory recounts and there's no obvious way to delete the pending restocks!
In the restocl report open it and Mark as damaged removes them without adjustment i believe
This is what I was going to say too. In my head the reasoning to have it not go directly back in stock is that it could be in a daily holding where all returned stock is and therefore not actually out in stock on the floor. Also it could be returned items need to go through a process to make sure the item is 100% ok to put back out on the floor.
If you took back returns, but they are just in a bin behind the counter a customer could ask you for stock on an item and it would say 1 is there but you can't find it on the floor.
There's some logic to that - but since there's no information given that it's going into a separate Pending Restocks category and not actually being restocked as it claims then I think it's very misleading..
Interesting, we did a refund this morning and the returned item went straight back into the inventory, rather than into Pending Restocks. Is this a silent improvement by Square?
I didn't realize Square had added this feature, but it appears to be classifying 99% of my exchanges as "pending restock", but not all of them. But yet it automatically restocks 100% of my returns (assuming restock is selected in the retail app when returning). Has anyone figured out any rhyme or reason why this happens or how to just have it automatically restock without putting anything in pending? That distinction is already made at the checkout screen when we decide whether to "restock items" or "skip restock".
