[BUG] Modifier "Set Order" gets rearranged for no reason

From time to time, the set order of all the modifiers gets rearranged for no apparent reason. This happens to the master list of modifiers "/dashboard/items/modifiers" AND the rearranging gets propagated to all items individually.

We don't do anything, and the next day we come in and all the modifiers are rearranged on all our devices & platforms (terminal, POS, dashboard, square online, 3rd party integrations).

For example,

Day 1: "Latte" has: #1 Milk, #2 Flavor, #3 Toppings.

Day 2: "Latte" has: #1 Toppings, #2 Flavor, #3 Milk.

This is incredibly frustrating for our staff, slows down our work flow, and creates unneeded work for me to go back and change everything.

I understand by talking with support that there is now a bulk "Reset Modifier Set Order" option in the item library, as a workaround. But the Modifier Set Order shouldn't unexpectedly rearrange itself on /dashboard/items/modifiers in the first place.

Will there be a fix for this?

Thanks for taking the time to detail this, I know how disruptive this issue can be for fast-paced workflows, and I’m sorry you and your team are having to deal with it. To clarify what’s happening: Modifier Set order is intended to remain stable across the Dashboard, POS, Square Online, and integrations. The behavior you’re describing, here modifier sets randomly reorder themselves overnight is not expected, and we appreciate you reaching out to our direct Customer Success team about it. Did they provide you with a bug or case number that we can investigate further?
