shipping for items created at an event

I sell art class events through our online store.  Is it possible to add a shipping option so that people can choose to prepay for shipping their project when they book the event?  i have followed the steps to set up shipping and added these individual items in the fulfillment tabs, but the shipping option is not showing up in the online store.  I am starting to wonder if this is because they are created as "event" instead of a physical item.

You're spot on here, @Acmeartworks! Shipping fees can't be added to event items, because they're classified as non-physical items.

Instead, I recommend creating an Option Set and Variations to include shipping in your pricing structure. This approach allows you to price each ticket tier based on whether shipping is required, with the shipping fee incorporated into the total item cost.

If you offer multiple events with the same shipping requirements, you can reuse the same Option Set across all events. For events with different prices or shipping needs, you'll need to create separate Option Sets and Variations for each.

Here's how to get started:

1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and navigate to Items & Services > Items > Item Library.

2. Click on an existing event item to open the Edit item page.

3. Scroll down to Variations and click Add.

4. Give your Option Set a descriptive name (e.g., "Choose your ticket type").

5. Add your Variation names and their corresponding prices.

For example:

- Item Type: Event
- Item Name: "Pottery Class"
- Event Date/Time: January 23 @ 10AM
- Option Set Name: "Choose your ticket type"
- Variations:

- "Ticket only" ($55.00)
- "Ticket + shipping of small project" ($75.00)
- "Ticket + shipping of large project" ($95.00)
6. Save all your changes

To collect shipping addresses, you could enable the "Require a shipping address at checkout" setting for your non-physical items:

1. On your Square Dashboard, go to Online > Settings > Checkout > Checkout experience > Customer inputs.
2. Click Edit customer inputs.
3. Under Always collect buyer address for, select Non-physical items.
4. Click Save.

I hope this information helps! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. 😊
