can we sigup with itin and ssn?
@Legend ;
We do not work for Square just other businesses so we would not know the specifics to answer your question. You would need to contact Square. They are open on Monday as this is now the weekend. The support number is below in my signature line.
Hi @Legend ! First, thank you to my friends @Candlestore and @Minion for providing their insight here. For anyone that happens upon this thread, I want to provide some more information about this and why SSN or ITIN is required.
Unfortunately, Square currently requires either a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to open an account in the United States, even if you have an EIN for your non-resident LLC.
Note: These requirements are specific to Square's U.S. operations and are based on their current policies and regulatory requirements.
@Legend ;
I do not think so since according to the below search an itin is only for those that can not get a SS#. So if you have a SS# you should not be able to get an itin.
From the IRS ( https://www.irs.gov/tin/taxpayer-identification-numbers-tin )
An ITIN, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, is a tax processing number only available for certain nonresident and resident aliens, their spouses, and dependents who cannot get a Social Security Number (SSN). It is a 9-digit number, beginning with the number "9", formatted like an SSN (NNN-NN-NNNN). Dec 18, 2024
Now a business gets an EIN not a ITIN, if you got those confused. Depending on how your business is structured you might be able to have a Business account with Square and an Individual account. This is more a question for Square Support or a Business Lawer, based on your situation, but based off of ITIN and a SS#, no this would not be possible since you should not have Both numbers.
