Why did SQUARE get rid of "payment links" on the item page?

 

In order to get a item link, I now have to go to a separate page, leave the item page. and key word search for the item I just created, when I could toggle button to turn on link a couple days ago. 

 

Instead of the create a link feature, it's Share on Social Media. No I don't want to edit how it looks on social media. I just need a link.

It's not even on Channels, which is a somewhat logical place to have buried it. 

 

The only way I can turn on link is via an older mobile app, and if they update this, I will lose my mind. Then I have to do to the desktop dashboard to be able to copy the link. 

 

When they launched a new UI they used to have the option to "Use the old UI" back button. That's what I need now.

Self Check out.

But you guys removed the Create a shareable link from the item creation page, and now It's a 5+ minute long process to be able to get a link, when I used to be able to toggle a switch. Now I cannot get my QR code to print on my items without jumping through hoops.

Hey @irwinpks1, thanks for reaching out. I am not familiar with the change that was made, so I just want to make sure I fully understand before I escalate this. On the Dashboard, after you click Create Item from the details page, that is where you were previously able to toggle the payment link option, correct?

And now it is making you go to Settings and then Payment Links instead?

I have this problem, too.  When creating a new item, there is no option to create a payment link.  Is that no longer an option? 

 

I did find that I can go to a separate section in the dashboard under payment links.  This is a step backward; you have to search for each item you want to add a link to.  The ability to create the link when creating the item and the ability to later just go back to the item library and add a link should be restored.  Suggestion:  Just make adding a payment link the default when creating a new item so it just shows up for the item in the library.

I've been searching for an answer to this problem also, and just found this thread.  It used to be very easy to get a payment link.  Now I can't figure out how to do it, and I have wasted hours of valuable time.  Why the heck was it changed?

Came here for the same question- how do I link the payments now? Why would Square make things MORE difficult? This is frustrating
