Taxes Not Added at Checkout

Hi there. I have just started using online store for retail items. I have the taxes set on the items as GST and PST as I am in Canada yet when I go to check out, it does not and I'm not sure where the error is. It looks like it's enabled on my online site anybody have any thoughts? I've sent an email to Square and will try and call today as to sort it out but wondering if I'm missing a step, thank you!

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Seller Community @skinseine ‌🙂‌.

We recently made some changes on Square Online, and for some sellers, the sales taxes settings for both in-person and online orders are now located on the Dashboard in Settings > Account & Settings > Payment > Sales Taxes


On this page, you'll have the option to set up in-person (including pickup) sales taxes, as well as online orders sales taxes. If you have already set up in-person taxes, you'll want to make sure that your settings are correctly set for shipping and delivery sales. 

 

I took a screenshot from my test account, and you can see that I'm not collecting taxes for either options. To enable sales taxes for online orders, click on Manage Settings, and select Collect taxes for the relevant fulfillment methods.

Definitely a question for their help desk, but one thing to check is your location settings - make sure Square knows you are located in Canada.

THIS REPLY!! Thank you so much, you helped me add the taxes to my online store.  

 

While I did have the taxes enabled they were still marked as not collecting.  Once Changed, the taxes applied to online purchases.
