Have there been any updates on this?
For context:
We currently run square for restaurants at several food truck locations. We take orders with Online Ordering and In-Person POS / Register. We use the inventory tracking to track stock of menu items.
We have run into two main issues that we can't figure out how to solve:
1) When a customer wants to order for future pickup they can only order from the available inventory at the particular time they try to place the order on the website (for example, if they place the order after hours and we are out of stock even if it will be restocked as soon as we reopen in the morning). Example being someone trying to place a next day lunch pickup order the night before has to wait until we open and manually update inventory before placing the order.
2) Customers placing orders to be picked up in the future (the next day or later) depletes the available inventory shown to same day customers, which can create artificially low stock levels and prevent other customers from ordering items online unless we catch this and manually adjust the inventory.
