I understand @kdogsarcade, and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience any of this has caused you.

Our eCommerce team said that you do not have a Square for Retail subscription. So in order to use Google Free Product Listings, you will need to subscribe to Square for Retail.

If you are interested in doing so, there are a couple ways to subscribe. You are able to subscribe through your Square Dashboard (refer to red highlighted sections in the screenshot below), or you can subscribe through this site.

Once you are subscribed, you should be able to use Google Free Product Listings as intended. I hope this all helps. Please let us know if you have any other difficulties in the meantime.

Hi @kdogsarcade

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing when you are trying to set up the listings? That will help me assist with troubleshooting a bit better.

I just want to doublecheck that you have followed these steps as well for setup.

  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard, then go to Online > Online sales channels.

  2. Select Get Started under Google Free Product Listings.

  3. Confirm data sharing requirements, then select Continue.

  4. Create a new or link your existing Google Business Profile Account to your Merchant Center account.

  5. Select which Square Online website to connect to Google.

  6. Verify your phone number with Google via SMS or phone. Note: Google will use your phone number to verify you are the owner of the business.

  7. Finish setup.

  8. Select Done.

I'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me why I do not have Google Free product listings?

I do not sell locally and only have an online store.

I have my contact us page completed.

I have my shipping, return policy and taxes set.

I've linked with Google business, ads, merchant center.

It's been setup for some time now but I barely show up in searches and I do not show up in the shopping portal.  This is my online shopping portal page. What does it look like for sellers who have this working?

Calling Square was no help they just kept referring me to the same page to set it up.NoGoogleProdListing.PNG

Hey @kdogsarcade - sorry about that. I have escalated your situation to our ecommerce team. I am not sure why you don't have the option for the product listings.

We merge posts so similar posts are organized together. I'm sure the moderator who merged was working on an escalation as well. Hopefully we can get some more eyes on this today.

My apologies again.

Hi @kdogsarcade, I am responding here about your situation from your recent comment.

I just checked with our eCommerce team and they said that in order to use Google Free Product Listings, you do need to be subscribed to Square for Retail. There is a free trial option, but after the free trial ends the Google Free Product Listings are not available unless you subscribe. Are you subscribed to Square for Retail?

Forgive my ignorance but what am I currently signed up for?

https://squareup.com/us/en/retail

There's a free option that I'm signed up for inside Square for retail.  No document I've read nor has anyone I've spoken with told me that is only available to paid options.

Have your eCommerce team look at my account and say "Yes, Sammie_C they should have the feature and we fixed it" or "No Sammie_C, they need to pay monthly to get access to that feature"

I have no idea why everyone continues to tell me "this is how it works" instead of just looking at my account on the backend and either fixing the issue or giving me a straight answer as to why it doesn't show up.

So I goto the page you linked.

I click on pricing.

It takes me here:

https://squareup.com/us/en/point-of-sale/retail/pricing

I click the free link.

It takes me to my dashboard.

https://squareup.com/us/en/point-of-sale/retail/pricing

I go back to this page and scroll down.

Under Online selling features, I see that Google Free product listing is available in the free tier which I am on.

Let's also cap this off that the link on setting up Google Free Product listings in Square indicates this is a free offering and there is no requirement to be using the Square for retail paid product.

https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7385-getting-started-with-google-product-listings

I managed to accidentally start the free trial and am unable to move forward as it tells me my return policy is not listed in Square online despite it being there.  If there is a particular format I need to be using to create my return policy I'd love to know what it is or I'd love an example to a website that is using square and fully setup with Google Free product listings.

Thanks!

Hi again @kdogsarcade, I just heard back from our eCommerce team and it looks like there was an issue on our side and our Fulfillment Management team has since resolved it. They also mentioned that they spoke with you to help you complete your Google onboarding process and things should be resolved and working as intended.

Please let us know if you end up having any other questions!

They spoke with me?  Like actual speaking on the phone?  Yea that never happened since the last time I posted here. I'll try setting things up again here shortly.

My mistake, I thought they had communicated directly with you. Either way, they stated that they confirmed that the issue is fixed and your Google onboarding process is complete.

Let us know know if you end up having any other questions or concerns.

THANK YOU!

Amazing that someone can fix something finally!

So let's recap.

1) Earlier you said "This is for Paid Square for retail only" and I proved it should not be based on the Square documentation.  Am I correct that this will not be removed from my store once the free trial elapses?

2) You also mentioned something was fixed on your end, hence why my return policy could not be detected after I managed to sign up for the Square Plus for retail free trial.  Was I correct that the issue was on the Square backend?

3) Is Google Free Product listing now fixed for all Square for retail users?

That's it for me! You won't gear back from me until things are broken again.

I greatly appreciate your time and effort in making a positive change for this platform.

K

Glad I could help!

1) From what was explained from our eCommerce team, in order to use Google Free Product Listings, you will need to subscribed to Square for Retail.

2) I am assuming so, but since I do not work on the backend with our Engineering team I was not explicitly told what caused it. I was told it was fixed and there should be no further issues.

3) Again, from what I was told, this should now be fixed. Since every account is unique, if seller's end up having a similar difficulty, they are more than welcome to reach out and we can look into it. You should be good to go though!

Let us know if you run into any other difficulties.

1) I have always been subscribed to Square for retail free. If this tier does not count even though all documentation from Square indicates it does, your team needs to ensure that Square for retail free has access since I did not get access until I signed up for the plus free trial.

2) Yea I'm going to assume you don't have a lot of people onboarding with Square since I've been dealing with this issue since October 2024.

3) I hope you're ready to fix other sellers because it doesn't appear the rest of the team has the same pull you do.  There are SEVERAL threads about this same issue and most sellers left Square for other products.

I'll be back if I lose access to Google free product listings once my trial runs out and we can discuss why Square for Retail free doesn't have access if that's what occurs.

All the best and have a great weekend!
