Square Online Item Modifiers Missing

Hello, I'm a Square Online seller and website designer for Square Online sellers. 

 

A client has created Prepared food and beverage items (Themed Cakes) and applied multiple modifiers to each. These items are placed on their Square Online website.

When a customer navigates to one of these items, selects modifier options, and changes How to get it to Local delivery, some of the modifiers disappear. This occurs when shopping on either desktop or mobile.

 

Screenshots that show the modifiers when Local delivery and Store pickup are selected, are attached for reference.

We're looking for some guidance about troubleshooting the disappearing modifiers.

I appreciate all the information provided in this post. 

 

So from what I was able to see for this particular item, some modifiers are assigned to different locations. 

 

The problem here is that since some of the modifiers are only assigned to The Naked Cupcake location, when you select delivery but do not enter an address to deliver to, no location is assigned to your order at that point. Therefore, since these modifiers are only "valid" for the one location and a location has not been selected, they do not appear. 

 

After entering a delivery address and selecting the proper location to deliver from, all the modifiers assigned to this item showed up on the website.

Thank you for your continued patience and direction.

 

My permission level prevented me from viewing/toggling multiple Sales locations in the modifier settings.

But, I could see a message about additional locations when I viewed one of the modifiers that behaves correctly (e.g., Cake Flavor).

 

I sent my client the modifier location settings information that you provided. They updated the modifier location settings and, eureka!, just as you explained, all the modifiers now appear on the item pages in Pickup and Delivery views!

Hello @frances_a Thank you so much for digging into this with us!

 

We also had tested the item selections after entering an eligible Local delivery address in the How to get it section and observed the same behavior as you did. All of the modifiers/selection options appear on the item page.

 

I checked some of the other modifiers' location setting, for example "Cake Flavor," and they are assigned to The Naked Cupcake sales location just as the disappearing modifiers are. The Cake Flavor and some other modifiers appear when either Local delivery (before address is entered) or Store pickup is selected while others, such as "Unicorn cupcakes", "Cupcake Base Flavors", only appear when Store pickup is selected or, after an address is entered in Local delivery.

 

For testing purposes, I toggled "Customer can only select one modifier" in one of the disappearing modifier settings. No change was implemented on the item page. I also set modifier minimum and maximum values at the item level, with no change observed afterward.

Yes, so the problem is with the modifiers that are assigned to only one location. 

The modifiers that are assigned to all locations are not an issue, because regardless of the location the customer selects, they will apply to the item. 

 

For modifiers that only apply to the item if a certain location is selected, they won't appear until after the correct location is selected. 

 

In this case, the disappearing modifiers you mention, such as "Unicorn cupcakes", and "Cupcake Base Flavors" are assigned to only one location. The modifiers that appear before a location has been selected, like "Cake Flavor" are assigned to all of your locations.
