Selling product by weight but tracking inventory by item

We have a meat business where we sell all of our meat products by weight down to the 0.001 kg of accuracy.  Our issue is that before we sell our products we manage our inventory by number of units of each product.  For example, we might make boxes of burger patties that are approximately 5.5 kg boxes.  We manage our inventory by how many boxes of each variation of product we have but when we sell through the register it is by weight.  Is there a way to manage warehouse inventory by the number of items we have and when items are sold they are sold by the actual weight but adjust the item inventory list by the 1 box that was sold?  If we for example program into the system that we have 20 boxes of 5.5 kg patties but the actual weight over the course of time is slightly off at the register sale our inventory count will constantly be inaccurate.

I'm honestly not sure if it is possible to track inventory the way you are asking. I have tagged some Community Super Sellers to see if they to see if anyone has a suggestion, or input for you.

I would also like some clarity on tracking my inventory though some of my items are packaged and sold by weight.

example:

I sell smoked salmon that we vacuum pack and put a scale label on them so each package is different weights but they are charged according by weight.

I would love to be able when I manage my inventory scan the item and it reads and puts the weight of the pack into inventory. It sweems the way it is setup is that i have to manually tally all the weights of the packages to total my inventory.

the POS does calculate the weight at the register and pulls the appropriate weight out of inventory but counting and receiving into inventory but weight doesn't seem to work.
