Selling food & selling physical items - Shipping fulfilment issues

Hi,

 

We sell pizza, and we also sell our own branded pizza cutter.

 

The food orders are fulfilled by 'Local Delivery.'  The cutter is fulfilled by 'Shipping' and 'Local Delivery' - because we want to be able to sell to people ordering our pizza locally and also ship out as merchandise, UK wide.

 

However, we've found that when we mark fulfilment as 'Shipping' and 'Local Delivery' for the cutter. When people are ordering food, it doesn't let them checkout as there's items with different fulfilment methods for items in their basket. 

 

Is this an error with Square or are we missing some information? With both boxes marked we feel it should allow checkout.

 

We want to start selling more physical items, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for sending that on @Graft_Pizza (it makes me want to get pizzas now)!

 

I had a play around with it on my end and when I selected the cutter for Local Delivery and add a pizza to cart, I was able to checkout normally and get to the page to enter my details.

If I add the pizza and then add the cutter for Shipping, the cart will flagged the pizza as not being available for shipping and will not let me complete my order. I tried it in an incognito window as well to make sure and it should work as expected.

It's worth keeping an eye on it as well; if more customers reach out about the issue, please let me know as I might have missed something myself.

Hey @Graft_Pizza, thanks for sharing this! 

 

Hmm, the only thing I can think of is if the customer has select Shipping as the fulfilment method for the cutter rather than Local Delivery. If one item in the basket is set to a different fulfilment method, it can cause the error above. 

 

I'd like to test something on my end to make sure things are working as expected. if possible, can you share a link to the website with me? That way, I can try to reproduce the issue and raise this to the ECOM specialist team if it needed further investigation as well.

That would make sense, come to think of it.


I’ve just tried myself and saw both options available. We just had a couple of customers say they couldn’t check out with the cutter on their order.

 

The website is www.graftpizza.co.uk if you could confirm that’s the issue then that’s ok, now we know!
