Hello Seller Community!
To allow your business to accept card payments, Square is required to perform a series of checks to verify your identity and your business. As your business evolves, we also need to stay up to date to provide you the best financial services. We strive to make it fast and easy while fulfilling our regulatory and payment network obligations.
With that, we want to hear from you:
On Monday, April 24 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. PDT, we'll welcome @laylaliang and @lanj from the Trusted Identity team for a question & answer session! Their team is eager to learn about how they can help you get started quickly as well as answer any questions you may have.
To participate in this discussion, post your questions and feedback below in advance, and be on the lookout for a "Best Answer" summary post that covers the main takeaways from this discussion. We look forward to hearing from you.
We're unable to share account-specific details within our online forums, though information on your experience will be helpful as we continue to make improvements. For account questions, please contact the Customer Success team directly.
Has it changed a lot in the last few years? I've been with Square for a while now and I remember it being an easy, well-planned process. Hopefully everyone else has the same experience!
Thanks, @Michael_L. We’re always trying to find ways to improve our process. We’ve introduced new ways to verify your identity to meet sellers wherever they are. This includes document verification where sellers may provide their government-issued ID and a selfie.

We have registered our business entity in Nova Scotia Canada. Built a website with Square. No payment set up yet. How can we apply for connecting payments? Do we need business bank account too?
Thanks for your response @thebaojourney. You will need to complete the verification process to accept payments. You can do this by going to your Square Dashboard page. You should see a banner regarding your set up process (You’re 10% set up). Click that and a modal should pop up with the list of items you need to complete. Click on Activate your account then Verify your identity. This should take you through the verification process.

I have purchased the Square to use for my small home business at my 1st Craft show event at the the end of this month. I am sure I will have questions as ai complete the setup process next week.
I want to do the same thing! I have a craft show my first one coming up in October and it's quite big for me. Do I have to have a registered business to use Square? When I was signing up with square it says it will save this address for 90 days. I'm not sure what that means. Doesn't mean after 90 days I have to sign up again? Any thoughts you might have to help me I would appreciate
Hey @TinasPlace,
No, you do not have to register your business to use Square. If you are operating as a sole proprietor, please feel free to sign up as an individual/sole proprietor. If you have problems in the process, please follow the identity verification retry instructions on the screen or call our Customer Success team.
Thanks, @Ont. We looking forward to your questions and wish you the best of luck at your craft show!
i’ve been with square for a short time period and all of my transactions have been very smooth and successful, looking forward to working with square more in the future
Thanks @iaseo! We’re excited to hear you’ve had a successful experience!
Hi Tom!
How do I register for this session if I have no questions or feedback?
... Chris
Hey @chris101t, thanks for checking in! This session is taking place in writing within this thread — no need to register. Just keep watch for notifications as the Trusted Identity team answers questions, and feel free to drop in any replies if anything comes up.
I have been using square in my small business , taxi services , all the transactions has been very quick with no problems, the rate is very good comparing to other «payments » companies .
I have 2 suggestions,
1-for mobile businesses like taxi services , it would be great to have a charger that can connect to a usb port (12volt) in a vehicle to charge it .
2- for sales repot it would be nice to have a weekly report a long with the daily report we get. Like from Monday to Sunday report .
thank you
