I have added an item to my items list and made it visible, with a stock count of one (an original oil painting) but it doesn't show up in my shop. Please help!

UPDATE 2 - I've discovered that it's to do with Categories - new duplicate categories had been set up automatically and I had assigned the new item to an old category. The item I had made unavailable and then visible reappeared once I changed its category to just the new category.
I believe this issue is now resolved (once I remove the old categories from all items and then delete them to stop this happening in future).

I've been through all of that and the item still doesn't show up on my site.
I also tried making an item unavailable - it disappeared from my site but when I made it visible again it doesn't appear. That was the only thing that I changes on that item. So now I have two items that won't appear.
I've been through all of the support articles that would appear to be relevant but to no avail. Any ideas?
