How does square factor the "Average Sale"?

I've been using square's "average sale," for some projections and I realized I don't actually know what factors they're using to calculate this.

Does it include tips, tax, etc.?

I  believe its only the net amount (not including tips and not including HST). 

Should be net total / # transactions
