Square appear to have updated their shipping profiles again (and it's messed with my store, but that's another story, again). How come you can't have the weight capped for a certain type of shipping? For example, a greeting card can be sent in a stamped envelope, but 100 greeting cards can't be, so need to be sent via a different method. I need to cap the weight of the Stamped Envelope shipping type so that it doesn't show up at all when someone buys 100 greeting cards.
Thank you for reaching out, @NutmegCreative. I’m sorry to hear the recent updates to Square Online’s shipping profiles has caused issues for your store.
Currently, weight-based shipping rates apply to the entire order weight rather than to specific item types or packaging methods. If you have multiple rates set up for different kinds of packaging, I can see how this would be a problem for your shipping process.
At this time, I recommend consolidating into a single weight-based shipping profile with various rates based on the entire order weight total, instead of splitting them by package size. If your rates vary by region, I suggest duplicating that profile for each state or territory. At checkout, customers would enter their address, and we'd calculate shipping using the order’s total weight and the destination.
I realise this solution may not perfectly fit your needs. If you have feedback on these limitations or suggestions for improvement, please let me know. I’ll share your comments with our Product team and work with you to explore additional options.
