This question appears to be still unanswered. When a customer includes a tip in an online order transaction, who is that tip assigned to? We have four stores. Customers choose which store to pick up their order. The order is for future pickup, sometimes as much as two weeks in advance. How is that tip assigned?
@NoblePiesGuy From everything I have seen (and this goes to how house accounts operate) that if you are splitting tips by day/week/transaction whoever is clocked in at a specific location will share a tip on an order when it is placed and paid. Tips are split when sales post and are in your gross sales. On house accounts we bill people, but the moment we ring in the transaction the customer has the option to tip right then.
You can't pool tips automatically across locations from what I understand. If you use cash accounting, then you may have to do it manually. I have the tips pooled for my workers by the day. So each person who worked that day shares based on hours worked since I am mainly fast casual.
