it was working but how just getting a 500 Server Error, on a variety of browsers and devices
Hi @FandSSSSS
A 500 error usually means something went wrong on the server side (ie Square Online), not your browser or device, so clearing cache or switching browsers likely won’t fix it.
Here are a few steps you can try:
Check Square system status
Go to https://www.issquareup.com/ to make sure there are no ongoing outages affecting Square Online.
Clear any recent changes
If you recently edited your site (eg added custom code, changed themes), try undoing those changes. Custom scripts or third-party embeds can sometimes trigger server errors.
Disable custom code blocks
If you have custom HTML or JavaScript in your site editor, remove them temporarily and publish again. This often resolves 500 errors caused by invalid code.
Republish your site
In your Square Dashboard > Online > Website > click ‘Publish’. This forces a refresh of the site files.
Check domain settings
If you use a custom domain, confirm your DNS settings match https://squareup.com/help/au/en/article/6828-connect-your-domain-to-square-online. Incorrect DNS can cause server issues.
If none of these steps work, the issue may be on Square’s end. In that case, I recommend contacting https://squareup.com/help/au/en/contact with these details:
