Dining Options

Hi There. I need to assign different dining options to different menu categories. 

At the minute my docket printers show pick-up for everything. I need all the sit-in menus to automatically show For here and all the takeaway categories to show Pick up on the printers.

When you’re ringing up a sale with the Square Point of Sale app or Square for Restaurants app, you can note whether customers are dining in, taking their items to go, or requesting delivery. 

Are you seeing this option when you are putting through orders? It sounds like your default is set to pickup but you should still be able to make the distinction at the start of the order.

That just adds an extra step at ordering stage. I want it to automatically apply to all items in a category

I'm just picking up on this for Breffni, while she is out of office. 

While it is possible to assign default Dining Options to specific Locations, it would not be possible to apply these options to specific Menus or Display groups on your Point of Sale. 

I can see why this could be useful, so I’ve gone ahead and moved the post over to our Ideate Board, so that it's visible to our product teams when they are reviewing feature requests from the community.

I had similar issue with customers ordering Take out.

I created a duplicate  items menu and assigned them to a To Go category button.. I put Item name and added text 'ToGo' at end of item that is for take out.

Items ToGo are also cheaper than dine in so I needed this.

Yes I ended up doing that. Awful lot of pfaff for something that should be simple. Kind of sums up Square

I am trying to have two different default dining options based on the floor plan sections. One section is dine-in default and the second section would be to-go default. Is there a way to do this based on the different sections in a floor plan? I.e. Dining room orders all default to dine-in and the other section is for to-go only and all orders added to these tables default to to-go without having to change the selection.
