Cart issues with products being added that aren't in stock

We are having this same issue currently (8/10/25).

Hey there 👋

Ah, the classic “ghost items” showing up in the cart 👻🛒—super frustrating when customers can add things you don’t even have in stock. Usually this happens if inventory tracking isn’t turned on for those items, or if the stock count hasn’t been updated after a sale.

A couple of things to check:

  1. Go into your Square Dashboard > Items > Inventory, and make sure “Track Stock” is enabled for each product.

  2. Double-check your stock counts—if an item is at zero, Square should prevent it from being added unless it’s missing that setting.

  3. If you’re syncing with a website (Square Online or Weebly), give it a refresh—sometimes it takes a moment for inventory changes to sync across.

Once tracking is on and counts are accurate, those “mystery adds” should stop happening. Customers only being able to buy what you actually have = way less headache 🙌
