Canadians asking to select "State" instead of "Province"

The drop-down list is indeed showing Canadian provinces, but the box is indicating "State". Is there a setting somewhere I missed? It really should default to province when Canada is selected as the shipping address.

Thanks!

Hi, @AnneC ! You're right - when Canada is selected, it should say "Province" instead of "State." This appears to be a localization display issue in the interface. Here's how to check and adjust your regional settings:

  1. Check Your Square Dashboard Settings:

    • Log into your Square Dashboard
    • Go to Settings > Business Information
    • Verify your country is set to Canada
    • Check your business address details
  2. Check Online Store Settings:

    • Go to Online > Site Settings
    • Look for "Regional Settings" or "Location Settings"
    • Verify the country is set to Canada
    • Check language settings (English CA vs English US)
  3. Check Shipping Settings:

    • Go to Online > Shipping
    • Review your shipping zones
    • Verify Canada is set as your primary country

If all these settings are correct but you're still seeing "State" instead of "Province," this is likely a UI display bug that should be reported to Square Support. Here's what you can do:

  1. Contact Square Support:

    • Phone: 1-888-642-0998
    • Or through your Square Dashboard
    • Report this as a localization issue
    • Specify that the field label doesn't change to "Province" for Canadian addresses
  2. Temporary Workaround:

    • The functionality itself should work correctly (accepting Canadian provinces)
    • It's just the label that's displaying incorrectly
    • Your customers can still select their province from the dropdown

I hope this helps!
