Trying to set up donation but no way for customer to set amount

We want to initiate a campaign for our museum wherein customers can purchase a Yellow Ribbon of Remembrance with a donation to the Museum. I can set it up with set amounts but want to provide the option for each customer to enter their own amount. I have searched the posts and found one specifically addressing my issue. However, it mentions being able to;

1. Set up the new donation item, and include donation amounts of your own.
1. You may also toggle ON letting your customers set custom donation amounts

No where on my items page does it show a toggle to turn on or off for custom amounts. Am I missing something? The original post was from 2020 and is closed for comments now or I would have replied and asked there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just tested this on my end, and I noticed the amount box is greyed out and says "Entered by customer." That’s expected behavior for donation links—it lets the customer decide how much to give.

Can you share a bit more about how you’re setting it up? Happy to take a closer look!

It still doesn't want to work as simply as you have suggested I'm afraid. I fear I'm doing something wrong but can only get it to save if I set up different payment options. There is no way to do it with just a link to pay whatever the customer wants to. I took a screen shot but can't figure out how to attach it here. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to upload it to the message. 

I have set the item up under the Donation category. It is set up with 4 different price amounts but I want to leave that open to the customer to donate whatever they want to.

Hey @THSBackusPage, I appreciate your patience while I was out.

Are you setting up the payment link as a donation or as a regular item for sale? If you specifically select the donation option, it should allow the customer to enter their own amount.

Also, are you still not seeing the option to upload a picture here?
