Hello,
I'm a small home based business and sell jewelry online only. I'm based in Ohio so when customers order in state the Square app takes care of the tax fees it needs to collect but when they order out of state to be shipped, it does not. I read articles that it's not needed but I wanted to double check. Any help or suggestions would help. Thank you!
Yes the articles are correct. Unless you have a physical location in said state where the customer purchased your items, you would not need to collect sales tax.
Depending on your tax laws, Laws are different for each area.
In General in the US if you have a Physical location in a State or Region you need to collect taxes there. If this is not the case you do not. Again since laws are different for each area you would need to talk to an accountant in your area to follow the laws you operate in.
Thank you, I will check with an accountant as well.
