Hi @tilesbyterri.  There is nothing in any Square help document that might indicate a starting point to give you an answer.  Even if there were, the answer depends on what you are using Terminal for.  In my case, I use them as connected terminals to accept payments for my POS.  That is not a battery-intensive function and they have lasted all day not connected to power (9 hours).

When I was using them as tableside order taking devices (over 4 years ago), the battery performance was still acceptable and I rarely had to recharge them during the day.  But admittedly I wasn’t putting a heavy load on them since the bulk of my ordering has always been at the walk-up window POS.

Can you explain how you plan to use your Terminal(s)?

Hi Chip.  Thank you for responding.  I do primarily pop up events, farmers markets not lasting more than 6 hours.   4th QTR is very busy for me.  I had the chip reader for years.  The battery quit working a few years back but I was able to keep it plugged into a mophie battery pack and it was fine.  I did try to plug the terminal into the mophie and it gave me message that it was unable to charge the device even though connection fit.  I just to be prepared if the battery dies on me.  I see reviews saying the battery does not last and others that say it was fine.

My wife uses the Square terminal for markets (usually 6-8 hours long) and it's had enough battery power to last every event so far! We just make sure that it's fully juiced up the night before and that tends to do the trick.

I do like the idea of having a portable charger to keep just in case though.

Adding to both of you. Terminal seems to have higher amperage needs than many portable chargers deliver. I’d recommend a portable charger that is rated to charge laptops. The one I tried it with works great.

I agree with @maxpete. I use my terminal in connected mode (where the screen never turns off) at my markets. They are 4-6 hours long, and if it's fully charged at the start it is sitting at about 50% at the end of the market.

We have 6 terminals and I would say you can get a good 10-12 hours out of them, but it all comes down to how long the screen is on as that is what is using the juice.  So if it is like 5 checkouts an hour no problem, but if it is 40 checkouts an hour then you could have issues possibly getting to 10 hours as it wouldn't be shutting off much.

when we did markets I always had a battery backup that I could charge more from plus vehicles I could charge at if needed.  I love this Anker battery I have now.  I use it all the time cause it is easier to plug into this than drag a cord from a power outlet to the table or even to carry on the go and can charge an iPhone like 8 times.   not an affiliate just what I use and love.
