The following methods can be used to connect the Square Terminal to the internet:
- Wi-Fi Connection - Please note you won’t be able to connect your Square Terminal to a captive portal network or unsecured networks. Captive portals require you to agree to terms, conditions, or provide login information. Commonly found in places like coffee shops, airports, and other public internet access points.
- Ethernet - Requires the Hub for Square Terminal.
- Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot - Sometimes referred to as a Mi-Fi or Dongle.
- Personal Mobile Phone Hotspot - Using 3G, 4G, or 5G cellular networks.
Since both Portable Wi-Fi Hotspots and Personal Mobile Phone Hotspots can use the 4G or 5G networks, the Square Terminal will not be affected by the 3G network shutdown. To continue using Square Terminal with a hotspot connection after the 3G service closure, you’ll just need to use a device that utilises the 4G or 5G networks.
