Using the app and reader in Canada

I just bought the reader and i am trying to use the app, as directed. It doesn’t allow me to put my Canadian address in to verify my identity. It’s like this unit is preprogrammed for the US marketplace. How do i move forward? What am i missing?

Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear about the trouble! 

 

It looks like you accidentally signed up for a US Square account. If you have another email address, you can sign up for a new account, and be sure to select Canada as your location. 

 

Our Canadian support team can help you out here by freeing up your current email address if you don't have a second one you could use. Give us a call on 855-809-9000, and we're available Mon - Fri, 6am-6pm Pacific Time.

I just bought the reader and it asked me to use the app. That’s fine except i cant get past it asking for my address and it not allowing for me living in Canada. It’s like i was sent a unit that’s pre programmed for the US market. Am i missing something?

When creating a new account the first screen has four fields. One of those fields is country. Ensure that Canada is selected there.

On the first screen when creating a new account one of the four fields is location. Make sure to set it to Canada.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I already had a functioning square account and i had installed this app long ago so I am not setting up a new account. I’ve looked but is there somewhere that I can find that piece in the settings to adjust if needed? Obviously I made a mistake somewhere when I originally downloaded it.

This is such (censored). I phoned that number and it sends us to CHAT SUPPORT which does not deal with these problems. Terrible!!!!
