Square Kiosk Menu not displaying as expected

 

Square Kiosk showing unexpected “More” menu with duplicate & unrelated categories

 

 

Hi all, hoping someone here may have come across this before as I’ve been stuck on it with support since Tuesday.

 

Here’s the setup:

 

• In Dashboard > Items > Menu > Kiosk Menu, I only see 4 menu groups — these display correctly on the physical kiosk.

• For example, “Savoury” is not showing because the item inside it currently has the Kiosk sales channel turned off — expected behaviour.

 

However, on the physical kiosk:

 

• There is the correct Kiosk Menu, plus an unidentified “More” menu at the top

• You can scroll through the correct kiosk menu groups

• Then further down through the extra “More” menu groups, which:

– Duplicate the existing kiosk menu groups, and

– Also show unrelated categories such as:

– Today Only Specials

– Books

– Vegan

– Made Without Gluten

 

None of these are selected or enabled anywhere in the Kiosk Menu in the dashboard, so I can’t work out what is driving this or how to remove it.

 

What I’m trying to understand:

 

• What actually controls the “More” menu on Square Kiosk?

• Is it driven by Display Groups, Item Categories, or something else?

• Is there a way to fully disable or cleanly control the “More” section?

 

This is for a live restaurant environment and I’m meant to be launching the kiosk imminently, so any insight would be hugely appreciated.

Hi @Gary55, thanks for flagging this issue, and apologies for the inconvenience while you’re setting up for your launch.

Could you please share a photo of your Kiosk screen showing the “More” option, as well as a photo of all the items and categories displayed within it? We’d like to double-check your Kiosk menu configuration to see if any menu or item settings might be causing unintended items to appear.

Ideally, only the groups and items added to Kiosks should be displayed. In general, food & beverage items are managed via menus, while retail items are controlled through item and category availability settings. Items or categories marked as available for Kiosks will, of course, appear accordingly. The key question is whether the items or categories in your setup are causing the behavior you’re seeing with the More menu.

Once I receive some photos, I'll be able to confirm the expected behaviour with my team.
