Order number not consistently printing on kitchen printer

PXL_20251122_155640846.jpgStarted happening around the end of October that we noticed. The kitchen printer stopped printing order numbers. Sometimes they will print, but very rarely. The pile on the left has a weird receipt number at the top, but there are very few of those. The ones in the middle printed correctly. The 50+ receipts on the right did not. They were all entered exactly the same way. 

We have a 'work around'. I created an item called customer name, that we add to each order, and edit it to enter a number. This step takes too much extra time.

There is no rhyme or reason to why why it works correctly. The items on the order don't seem to matter.

I would like to learn a little bit about your setup to understand how this is happening. How many devices do you have, and how many printers? If more than one device is being used to print, do they all have the same Printer Profile? 

 

A printer profile allows you to configure one or more devices with default or customized printer settings. You can create and assign a printer profile before or as you connect your printer to apply the settings. For example, you can use a printer profile to make all devices connected to a printer automatically print receipts. The reason I ask this is that if there are multiple printer profiles, this behavior can be experienced.

We use one device and one printer per location. This was all from one location on the same evening.

Sorry for the delay in my response, @pixidust. It seems that this notification fell through the cracks. Can you confirm the device make and model, firmware version, and the Point of Sale app version you are running?  Also, the Square Location this is happening. I would like to get this escalated, so I will need that information to provide it to the respective team.

Is the payment for the numbered tickets cash and the order tickets cards?

You may be on to something. All of the numbers are cash (I checked about half of them). However, I am definitely missing some cash ones from the numbered pile. 49 for example was cash but it either didn't print with the order number or it was thrown in the trash. I've seen a few like that, so it's doubtful it was just trashed.
