POS App crashes when tablet charger connected

Had this start happening on Oct. 2.  Try to open the square app, it flashes up briefly, then goes back to tablet home screen.  LASt update was Sept 30th, it was fine on Oct 1st, has been iffy ever since the 2nd.  Support didn't really know why, just said nothing they can do and it's a known issue?

We are able to get it to open if we leave the power cable disconnected.  Sometimes we are able to connect the power after the app is up and reader paired.  Tablet is up to date, we rebooted it, uninstalled and reinstalled the app.... Still happening.  Nervous we are not going to be able to connect at all one of these mornings.

Anyone else had this issue, and how did you resolve?

thanks!

PS Table is Samsung S7, less than 2 years old, Reader is less than 2 years old and lives on a charging dock 99% of the time.  We've re-paired it 2x with no change.

Hey @Meekomac,

I'm sorry to hear trouble is bringing you to the Seller Community!

This definitely sounds odd. Are you running any other apps at the same time, and have you downloaded any apps that modify how your tablet operates, e.g overlays or screen recording/ screen dimming apps? In some cases, these types of apps can affect the Square Point of Sale app. Looking forward to hearing back from you 🙂

Nope, nothing has changed. The tablet is pretty exclusively for running the cash function of the business, so no apps coming and going.  It connects via USB hub to the printer, barcode scanner and a keyboard, via Bluetooth to the reader. All that is the same as it has always been, no new hardware added...

So odd that it was OK for about a day after the last update, then poof on day 2....

Tablet software just updated this morning, so we'll see if there is any change at all when we're back at the shop later this week.....

Please let us know how you go after the software update on your tablet, @Meekomac. Sometimes outdated software on the device itself can affect the POS app, as our app updates are optimised for the most up to date OS available.
